How it Works

Register for Close the Loop’s recycling program to ensure your empty ink and toner cartridges do not end up in a landfill!
It’s easy – sign up and purchase your boxes, fill the boxes with your empty cartridges and ship your box back to CtL with UPS! At that point, CtL will receive your product and recycle the materials into new products! Click here to learn more about what Close the Loop does with the products received.

Box Kit FAQs

I have ordered my recycling kit. What will I receive?

Each kit contains 3 boxes (with prepaid return labels attached), liners, zip ties, and instruction sheet inside of a corrugate shipper. The shippers are plain brown corrugate with no outside markings and measure 37.25” X 27.5” X 1.5”.

I ordered my recycling kit. How long before I receive it?

All orders should be received in 7 to 10 business days.

How big are the boxes?

Boxes are 13” by 13” by 30”. They are designed to sit next to the copy machine for ease of use.

How many items fit into a box?

Each box holds an average of 15 to 18 items with no outer packaging (i.e. boxes).

What types of items can be recycled through the program?

Any printing and imaging supply that can be replaced by the customer can be sent for recycling. This includes:

Toner cartridges
Toner bottles
Fusers
Drums
Waste Toner Collectors

Can you send supplies to a PO Box?

No, we cannot deliver to a PO box.

How do I get the box or boxes picked up for delivery?

Boxes have been pre-labeled with UPS return labels. When sealing the box, ensure the label is facing out. Place boxes out at your designated UPS drop spot or take it to your nearest UPS store. (Include a picture of the box closed with the label showing.)

What brands of cartridges is accepted?

All brands of cartridges are accepted through this program.

What happens to the cartridges when returned for recycle?

Cartridges are recycled in a zero waste to landfill facility. Commodities, such as plastic, metal, toner and ink are recovered and placed back into the post-consumer market (PCR) commodity market. Click here to learn more about Close the Loop and the recycling process.

I have lost the box liners. What should I do?

Garbage and other plastic bags are an acceptable substitute, if you have lost your box liners. These bags are important as it contains any excess toner shaken loose during shipping.

I ordered boxes and do not want to use them, what do I do?

We do not offer refunds for this program once the purchase has been made. Please email us at ctlrecycles@ctlus.com with any questions.

Where do you ship to?

We only ship this to the 48 continental US states.
